My camera rigged for nocturnal work. This has worked very well for owls and other nocturnal wildlife.

I often use standard camouflage gear. This makes a huge difference, allowing you to get closer to your subject. Some of the more intelligent species are not fooled but most are.

Tent hides are really good, especially around water holes. My hide folds up into my back pack. This was set up at Nallan Station water bore waiting for Bourke’s and Mulga Parrots to come in to drink.

Welcome to my website . I hope you like my photographs. I have put a lot of time and effort into this over many years.

I don't belong to any photography or conservation organisations and I don't enter any photo competitions. I'm not interested in the politics of that side of things. Of course, I support conservation, especially minimising land clearing. We must stop clearing as much as we can and completely ban clearing old growth forest. I am not a fundamentalist, I do recognise there is a cost of human civilisation of 8 + billion people on the planet . However, we must conserve what we can.
Mostly, I just like being out in the bush, finding my target species after extensive research. I have been photographing wildlife in Australia for well over 30 years and have accumulated a huge collection. My photo trips are targeted, choosing and researching target species before I depart. I find this method very successful, rarely missing out.

At the moment I use a Panasonic Lumix GH5, a hybrid mirrorless camera featuring a 20.3MP Micro Four Thirds sensor, 5-axis in-body image stabilization, and internal 4K 60p 10-bit video capture. The lens I mostly use is the Leica Vario-Elmar-SL 100-400mm f/5-6.3. This lens is 35mm equivalent to a 200-800mm zoom and has image stabilisers. A huge advantage of this combination is that the full kit weighs 7kg. This means I can hand carry on aircraft. My previous Canon equipment had to go in the baggage hold which I hated doing.

Camouflage gear and tent hides are a must, it gets you so much closer to your target.
